GeoGRAFX GIS Services – Who are we and what do we do?

At GeoGRAFX GIS Services, our number one focus is to create maps using any geotechnical source to support timely decision making for geoscientists and investors. Traditional one-dimensional maps are great, but they don’t tell the whole story. The beauty of using GIS-generated maps - where geotechnical data layers can be added or removed – is that these intelligent maps help geologists better visualize the 3-D geometry of exploration and mining data you have.

geografx compassHow can GeoGRAFX GIS Services help you and your company be more successful and competitive in an increasingly competitive global arena?

As the old saying goes, a picture is worth a thousand words. Well envision this: a GIS-generated map - complete with land status, drilling program data, soil sampling & geochem data, & any other geodata you may have – integrated electronically. You can turn on and turn off different geodata layers as you go, depending on what you want to see.
Remember when you used to take your 7.5 minute topo sheet, add drill hole or soil sample data, then take a couple of pieces of mylar to create your ideas about the subterranean geology - erasing and re-drawing as you went, rolling back your mylar sheets? Well, this is what a GIS-generated map can do for you, in the blink of an eye, removing or adding the layers of geodata you want to see.

A QUICK OVERVIEW OF GeoGRAFX GIS SERVICES…….

First, we can help you create maps using any geotechnical source to support timely decision making, including the seamless integration of geological, geophysical, and geochemical data for all your exploration, mining, and geotechnical decision-making needs.

Second, we can help geologists, geoscientists and investors make informed, critical decisions using available geodata, where geotechnical data layers can be added or removed, to generate intelligent, multi-layered maps. Our mapping capabilities include creating:

  1. Grass-roots reconnaissance maps;
  2. Integrated historical exploration & mine production data maps - where old paper maps, aerial photos, drill logs, geochem & stream sediment samples, and any other historical geodata you may have, can be integrated, complete with database searchability;
  3. Land status/land use maps, again with the ability to turn off and turn on different layers combined database searchabiltiy;
  4. Drill hole, soil sample and geochem analysis maps for extrapolation, as stand-alone decision-making tools or as removable layers;
  5. Presentation and 3-D materials to support investor needs, such as reports, posters, annual meeting presentations, and annual reports;
  6. Complete integration and utilization of any GPS-referenced data you may have, regardless of device or format.

Regardless of your geodata’s format, we can help you access it, integrate it, and use it to help you make better and more timely decisions for your exploration and mining needs.

Third, as a GIS service provider, we at GeoGRAFX GIS services can either support your internal GIS department or staff, partnering with your in-house staff. Or we can serve as a fully outsourced GIS partner, where we use your geodata to provide GIS mapping intelligence and tools to serve all or part of your mapping and data integration needs complete with fast turnaround.

Lastly, we also provide customized, hands-on, small group, training courses. Entry level courses cover learning the basics about using GIS software - learning things like layer control, opening & importing data, creating thematic maps, and more, while our more advanced GIS training courses cover topics such as creating surfaces, drill hole data display, using geochem data just to name a few course elements. (One of our more popular courses currently covers uploading integrating GPS complete with data collection exercises in the field.)

All courses have been accredited by the American Institute for Professional Geologists (AIPG) for their Professional Development Program. Participants in these courses earn Professional Development Points (PDP). Instructors for all courses are explerienced exploration and mining geologists.

In addition to our standard course offerings, we also provide custom training courses - at either your offices or ours – creating courses tailored to suit your particular needs. These customized courses can focus on specific geographic areas or topics of your choice, where participants can work with your company’s data and develop procedures specific to your GIS mapping needs.  Call or e-mail us with your questions about custom GIS courses, and let us help you to maximize your return on your GIS investments.
For more detail on our regular GIS training courses, please refer to our Training Calendar for register the GIS training course to meet your needs.
